We are honored and thrilled to announce that P0 Security, the Universal Cloud-Access Governance Platform, has been named as one of 10 finalists for the RSA Conference™ 2024 Innovation Sandbox. The contest will take place at the RSA Conference on May 6, 2024, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. P0 Security will have 3 minutes to present their ideas to the judges, followed by a Q&A session.
Since 2005, the RSAC Innovation Sandbox has provided a venue for new cybersecurity companies to demonstrate their technologies and compete for the title of "Most Innovative Startup". This competition is known for propelling startups towards wider recognition and success, with the top 10 finalists over 18 years achieving 80 acquisitions and receiving $13.5 billion in funding.
This nomination is a recognition of P0’s vision and early traction in the access governance market. While companies have always faced challenges securing access to their critical infrastructure and data, the nature of those challenges has evolved drastically over time. Legacy approaches to securing access relied on a network boundary. However, in a cloud-native environment, there has been an explosion of resources and locations where sensitive data might exist. Further, there has been an explosion in the number of identities - both human and especially non-human (machine). Thus, the number of access paths to sensitive data and infrastructure has increased exponentially. This has rendered legacy methods of securing access ineffective. Nowhere is this more apparent than a stunning statistic: In 2022, 70% of cloud-security incidents feature an IAM misconfiguration. In such a cloud-native world, the role of identity in securing a company’s infrastructure is more critical than ever.
Yet, organizations struggle to govern access effectively. Legacy IGA vendors are hard to use and involve lengthy and expensive implementation cycles. Other vendors (CIEM, CSPM, DSPM) provide a lot of noisy alerts, and security teams are rightly hesitant to use their recommendations to govern access, which might affect a developer workflow, or take down a production service.
P0’s founding team has deep expertise, and decades of experience in cloud, DevOps, and security at organizations such as Splunk, Cisco, and Semgrep. As engineers, in our prior jobs, we have personally felt the challenge of securing cloud access, and the friction it imposes on our daily work. We are on a mission to abstract security for developers, and we are excited to showcase our platform at the Innovation Sandbox.
RSAC Innovation Sandbox starts at 10:50 AM PT on May 6th and winners will be announced by approximately 1:30 PM PT the same day. The judges include Asheem Chandna, Partner at Greylock Partners; Dorit Dor, CTO at Check Point Software; Niloofer Razi Howe, Sr Operating Partner, Energy Impact Partners; Paul Kocher, Independent Researcher; and Nasrin Rezai SVP and CISO at Verizon. The competition will once again be hosted by Hugh Thompson, Program Committee Chair of RSA Conference. Let’s connect at RSA!
